Camargue Commercial Crime
When it comes to commercial crime risk faced by the modern business, insurers have traditionally identified what risks they are prepared to cover and then offered a risk transfer mechanism as a solution.
Any risks that fall outside of the insurance policy are the insured’s problem and that’s just the way it is – or is it?
Camargue Commercial Crime understands that not all risks are insurable and if we did try to do such a thing we would not be in business for much longer. But does this mean that the businessman today must be left to his own devices to try and combat the many and varied risks his business may face at the hands of criminals?
No! – we believe that we can help, even if we cannot necessarily offer the insurance cover.
Camargue, across all product lines, operates the M3 principle and this applies to the Commercial Crime arena as well. The three M’s are as follows:
Manage – this is where we assist our clients in managing uninsured risk.
Mitigate – here we offer the insured tools to mitigate the insured risk.
Migrate – the conventional insurance policy where our client transfers his risk to us, covering:
- Employee theft and fraud
- Computer fraud including electronic data loss and computer virus
- Extortion
- Contractual penalties
- Fraudulent transfer instructions
We are able to achieve the above with the use of various risk management tools, provided free of charge with the Camargue insurance policy.
The first offering is that of the Risk Survey, which is done as an alternative to the traditional proposal form. Here, an independent surveyor visits the insured and obtains comprehensive information on the systems and controls in place at the business. A report is then drafted and provided to our underwriters as well as the insured who is invited to contact our free Risk Management Hotline for further advice on any risk management issues that may have arisen.
Unfortunately, due to the cost of the surveys, it is not economically viable to visit every client and as such we will survey risks paying an annual premium of R30 000 or more. We will request a proposal form for policies that do not meet the R30 000 threshold.
For clients paying a premium of R30 000 or more – NO MORE PROPOSALS!
Lastly, we have set up a dedicated Fraud Hotline at the number 08610-FRAUD (08610-37-283). All clients will receive posters which they can put up in and around their premises encouraging employees to report any suspicious activity and offering a reward. These posters, whilst not threatening, will send a message to employees and visitors alike that criminal activity will not be tolerated at the business. Examples of the posters are below.
